How to choose

  • SiteKiosk Online if you want lockdown, remote management and on-screen content in one product on Windows or Android, and an annual price per device that includes the cloud server.
  • KioWare if the kiosk runs an existing web application or a single app and you need the lockdown layer only, or you need Linux or Chrome OS; pick Starter for a simple browser kiosk and Essential or Enterprise for single-app mode, add-ins or central management.
  • Either way: budget for the hardware enclosure, a commercial touch display and a patching routine. In August 2026 SiteKiosk warned that a Windows update blocked SiteKiosk Online and Classic from auto-starting with the local SiteKiosk user account; any kiosk on Windows depends on watching vendor notices like that.

Where digital signage fits

Most digital signage screens are not kiosks: no one touches them, and a signage player app shows scheduled content full-screen, so kiosk lockdown software is not needed. Lockdown matters when the public uses a touch screen or browser. DigitalSignage.com's SignPlayer is optimised for the mediaTOUCH 10.1-inch tablet, a dedicated device that supports lock-down mode so users interact only with the kiosk application and cannot reach the underlying operating system; touch and kiosk features are on the Enterprise plan, priced per screen in the public calculator. For a general Windows or Android kiosk that also has to run other web applications, a product such as SiteKiosk or KioWare is the dedicated lockdown layer. Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between SiteKiosk and KioWare?

Both lock a public PC or tablet into a kiosk: a hardened browser or a single app, blocked keys and system access, automatic start and session reset. SiteKiosk (by PROVISIO) sells SiteKiosk Online, a cloud-managed kiosk and digital signage product for Windows and Android at 239 euros per device per year, plus SiteKiosk Classic for Windows. KioWare sells three tiers, Starter, Essential and Enterprise, at $125, $155 and $195 per device per year, for Windows, Android, Linux and Chrome OS, with remote management as an add-on to Enterprise.

How much does SiteKiosk cost?

On the SiteKiosk EU shop on October 19, 2026: SiteKiosk Online Cloud 239 euros per device per year for 1 to 9 devices, 215 euros for 10 to 24 and 203 euros for 25 to 49, a 12-month term not renewed automatically; non-profit 149 euros. SiteKiosk Classic for Windows is 240 euros per device including one year of support and updates, with maintenance renewal at 100 euros a year. On-premise and dedicated servers are priced on request.

How much does KioWare cost?

KioWare's checkout on October 19, 2026 listed annual subscriptions per device: Starter $125, Essential $155 and Enterprise $195, with volume discounts. A license can be applied to Windows, Android or Linux; there is a 14-day trial of all tiers. Remote management through KioCloud or KioWare Server is an add-on to Enterprise, priced by sales.

Which is more secure, SiteKiosk or KioWare?

Both cover the core kiosk controls: OS and desktop lockdown, start on boot, keyboard and input filtering, website allow-lists, download control, popup blocking and clearing browser data between users. SiteKiosk adds application allow-listing, webcam access control and automatic logout that deletes user data at the end of a session; KioWare's Essential and Enterprise tiers add single-app mode, custom add-ins and integrated authentication. Security depends as much on configuration, patching and physical access as on the product.

Do I need SiteKiosk or KioWare for digital signage?

Not for a non-interactive screen. A signage player app shows scheduled content full-screen and the public never touches the device. Kiosk lockdown software matters when visitors use a touch screen or browser, where they could otherwise reach the operating system. DigitalSignage.com's SignPlayer is optimised for the mediaTOUCH 10.1-inch tablet, which supports lock-down mode so users interact only with the kiosk application; touch and kiosk features are part of its Enterprise plan.
