Digital Signage Pricing Index 2026: What 11 Platforms Actually Charge
Across the 8 hosted platforms that meter per screen, the median published rate in September 2026 is $9 per screen per month, running from $1.67 to $20, a spread of 12 times. At 50 screens for a year the paid platforms range from $1,680 to $12,000, a spread of 7 times. Only 5 of the 11 platforms tracked keep a permanent hosted free tier, and of those only one carries no branding and no conditions. No free tier expanded during 2026: one was time-boxed and watermarked, one was restructured, none improved. On devices, Android is the only near-universal target, with 12 of 14 vendors shipping a native app, against 1 for Roku.
Every figure on this page is computed from open datasets we publish and maintain, not from a survey or a market-research estimate. The method and the source files are at the bottom, so anyone can recompute them.
What a screen costs per month
| Platform | Published entry rate, per screen per month |
|---|---|
| PiSignage | $1.67 |
| DigitalSignage.com | $3.00 |
| ChannelOS | $5.00 |
| Yodeck | $8.00 |
| OptiSigns | $10.00 |
| Rise Vision | $11.00 |
| NoviSign | $14.00 |
| ScreenCloud | $20.00 |
Median $9.00. Mean $9.08. Lowest to highest, a spread of 12 times.
Two platforms sit outside that distribution by design. PosterBooking prices a 10-screen bundle at $52 per month rather than metering per screen, which is $5.20 per screen at 10 screens and falls as you add more. Xibo charges nothing for a self-hosted server and $4.90 per display per month for its hosted cloud.
The spread matters more than the median. Picking the dearest metered platform over the cheapest costs 12 times as much for software that, on the evidence of the compatibility matrix, runs on much the same hardware.
What a year costs at 50 screens
| Platform | Year one, 50 screens |
|---|---|
| Xibo, self-hosted | $0 |
| Anthias, self-hosted | $0 |
| PiSignage | $1,680 |
| DigitalSignage.com | $1,692 |
| ChannelOS | $2,940 |
| PosterBooking | $3,739 |
| Yodeck | $4,800 |
| OptiSigns | $6,000 |
| Rise Vision | $6,600 |
| NoviSign | $8,400 |
| ScreenCloud | $12,000 |
Software only, published list price, 12 months, with free screens deducted where a vendor grants them. The two zeroes are real but they are not free: you supply and run the server, or one Raspberry Pi per screen. The paid spread is 7 times.
How many free plans are left
Five of the eleven platforms keep a permanent hosted free tier.
| Platform | Free screens | The catch |
|---|---|---|
| DigitalSignage.com | 3 | None. No ads, no watermark, no credit card |
| OptiSigns | 3 | OptiSigns branding shown on screen |
| PiSignage | 2 | Raspberry Pi players only |
| ChannelOS | 1 | ChannelOS banner shown on screen |
| Yodeck | 1 | Basic features only, and only while the account has exactly 1 screen; new accounts since March 2, 2026 start with a 30-day, 5-screen full-access period |
Two more are free without limit if you host them yourself, Xibo and Anthias. Two offer a trial rather than a free plan: PosterBooking gives 10 screens for 3 months with a watermark, and ScreenCloud gives a trial only. NoviSign (30-day trial) and Rise Vision publish no free tier.
We operate one of these platforms, so read the first row with that in mind. The point of the table is the pattern, not the winner: a free tier with no branding and no clock on it has become unusual.
Free tiers are not growing
No free tier expanded during 2026. One was time-boxed and watermarked, one was restructured with its single free screen kept, and one entry is a correction to our own record.
| Date | Platform | What changed |
|---|---|---|
| 2026-03-02 | Yodeck | Onboarding restructured: new accounts start with a 30-day, 5-screen full-access period, after which one free screen (Basic features) remains while the account has exactly one screen |
| 2026-09-17 | PosterBooking | The advertised 10 free screens documented as a 3-month trial with a watermark |
| 2026-09-19 | ChannelOS | Free screen recorded as carrying a ChannelOS banner (a correction to our own September 18 entry, not a vendor change) |
Six platforms were re-verified in the same window with no change: DigitalSignage.com, OptiSigns, PiSignage, ScreenCloud, Xibo and Anthias. The full dated record, one entry per observation and never rewritten, is the free plan changelog.
The most misquoted fact in this category is Yodeck's free screen. Roundups published in 2025 and early 2026 describe it as free forever for one screen with no further conditions. Since March 2, 2026 a new account reaches that screen only after a 30-day, 5-screen period, keeps it only while it has exactly one screen, and gets Basic features on it (Yodeck's pricing page and documentation, read 2026-09-28). An earlier version of this page described the change as the free plan ending for new accounts; that was corrected on 2026-09-28.
Which devices the industry actually supports
Across 14 vendors and 15 device platforms:
| Device platform | Vendors with a native app |
|---|---|
| Android | 12 of 14 |
| Android TV and Google TV | 12 of 14 |
| Windows | 9 of 14 |
| Raspberry Pi | 9 of 14 |
| Fire TV | 9 of 14 |
| Chrome OS | 8 of 14 |
| Linux | 7 of 14 |
| LG webOS | 7 of 14 |
| Samsung Tizen | 6 of 14 |
| BrightSign | 5 of 14 |
| macOS | 4 of 14 |
| iPad and iOS | 3 of 14 |
| Apple TV | 2 of 14 |
| Roku | 1 of 14 |
Android is the only near-universal target. If you buy Android or Android TV hardware you keep almost every option open; if you standardise on Apple TV or Roku you cut the field to two vendors or one. No vendor ships a native app for a plain web browser, though 11 of the 14 will run in one, which is the quiet fallback that makes smart-TV support possible at all.

Method and sources
Every figure above is derived from four open datasets, all CC BY 4.0, all with a source link and an observation date per vendor:
- Pricing dataset: published rates and free-tier terms for 11 platforms, each with the vendor page it came from.
- Free plan changelog: dated and append-only. Entries are added, never rewritten, so the record shows what was true on any given date.
- Player compatibility matrix: 14 vendors by 15 device platforms, each cell sourced from the vendor's own documentation.
- Cost per screen dataset: year-one and year-three cost at 1 to 250 screens, computed from those rates.
The index itself is published as data too: digital_signage_index_2026.json. It carries the same numbers as this page, so a figure quoted from here can be checked against the file it came from.
No survey was run and no figure is an estimate. Where a vendor does not publish something, the datasets say "not published" rather than guessing. Prices are US list prices in US dollars, read from vendor pages and re-verified on 2026-09-19 and 2026-09-21; Yodeck and NoviSign were re-read on 2026-09-28. On that date the Yodeck free tier was reclassified as permanent (see above) and the NoviSign entry rate was corrected from $18 to $14 per screen per month (Business plan, billed annually; NoviSign publishes no monthly-billing figure), which moves the mean from $9.58 to $9.08 and NoviSign's 50-screen year from $10,800 to $8,400. The median and the 12x spread are unchanged.
Corrections are welcome. If a figure is wrong, send the vendor page and the date through the form on the pricing dataset page and the change will be recorded in the changelog with its source.

Frequently asked questions
What is the average price of digital signage software per screen?
Across the 8 hosted platforms that publish a per-screen meter, the median list price in September 2026 is $9 per screen per month and the mean is $9.08. The range runs from $1.67 for PiSignage, which supports Raspberry Pi only, to $20 for ScreenCloud, a spread of 12 times. PosterBooking is excluded from that distribution because it prices a 10-screen bundle at $52 per month rather than metering per screen, which works out at $5.20 per screen at 10 screens.
How many digital signage platforms still have a free plan?
Of the 11 platforms tracked in September 2026, 5 keep a permanent hosted free tier: DigitalSignage.com at 3 screens, OptiSigns at 3 screens with OptiSigns branding on screen, PiSignage at 2 Raspberry Pi players, ChannelOS at 1 screen with a ChannelOS banner on screen, and Yodeck at 1 screen with Basic features, kept only while the account has exactly one screen (new accounts since March 2, 2026 first get a 30-day full-access period on up to 5 screens). Of those 5, only DigitalSignage.com carries no branding, no time limit and no screen-count condition. A further 2 platforms, Xibo and Anthias, are free without limit if you host the server yourself. ScreenCloud offers a trial rather than a permanent free plan, and NoviSign (30-day trial) and Rise Vision do not publish a free tier.
Are digital signage free plans getting better or worse?
Not better. Across the dated changelog for 2026, no vendor expanded a permanent free tier. PosterBooking's advertised 10 free screens were documented in September as a 3-month trial carrying a watermark. Yodeck restructured its onboarding on March 2, 2026: new accounts now start with a 30-day full-access period on up to 5 screens, after which one free screen with Basic features remains, kept only while the account has exactly one screen. ChannelOS's free screen was recorded in September as carrying a ChannelOS banner, a correction to our own earlier entry rather than a vendor change. Six other platforms were re-verified in the same period with no change to their terms.
Which platform does digital signage software support most widely?
Android. Of 14 platforms measured across 15 device types, 12 ship a native Android app and 12 ship a native Android TV or Google TV app, making Android the only near-universal signage target. Windows, Fire TV and Raspberry Pi each have 9. At the other end, 3 vendors have a native iPad app, 2 support Apple TV and 1 supports Roku. No vendor ships a native app for a plain web browser, though 11 of the 14 will run in one.
This index is compiled and published by MediaSignage Inc., the operator of DigitalSignage.com, which is one of the platforms measured. The underlying datasets are open under CC BY 4.0 and carry a source link and an observation date for every vendor, so every figure here can be checked or recomputed independently.
